Your privacy
Everything you enter in Sobermark stays on your phone. There is no account and no sign-up. Your journal entries, moods, streaks, cravings and personal details are never collected or sent anywhere. Two anonymous services keep the app running; here is exactly what they receive.
- What stays on your phone: everything you enter. Your streak, check-ins, journal entries, cravings and settings are stored only on your device.
- Purchases. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play. To check whether Pro is unlocked, the app contacts RevenueCat, our billing service, when it starts. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device identifier and, if you buy, an anonymous purchase token from Google Play — never your name, email or anything you enter in the app.
- Anonymous usage counts, no ads. The app sends anonymous, cookie-free usage events (like “setup step 3 was viewed”) to PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the EU, so we can see where new users get stuck and improve the app. The same service also tells the app which features to turn on, so we can fix problems without a full update. These events use a random id and never include anything you type or select about your habit, with one exception: feedback you choose to write and send us from Settings. If you installed the app from an advert, Google Play tells the app which ad campaign the install came from, and that campaign label (never anything about you) is included in the same anonymous events. Like any internet request they reach PostHog with your IP address, which PostHog uses to note a rough region and does not store as part of a profile. They cannot identify you. This website counts page views with the same cookie-free tool: no cookies, no personal data, and it cannot follow you to other sites.
- Backups are yours. The optional backup exports a file to a location you choose. We never see it.
- Deletion. You can reset your progress or erase everything at any time from Settings → Delete all data. Uninstalling the app also removes all data.
